What are the roles/responsibilities of youths in the Church

Given the general decay in the society. How do we ensure that how children/youths remain grounded in the word and the things of God? The book of 1 Samuel 2:12-36 says "The sons of Eli [Hophni and Phinehas] were [a]worthless (dishonorable, unprincipled) men; they did not know [nor respect] the Lord". How do we avoid our youths/children going down the route of the sons of Eli?

I believe that training our youth/children from a tender age goes a long way when it comes to preventing them go down the route of the sons of Eli. Although it's not by mere human strength.

Proverbs 22:6 also records "Train up a child in the way he should go, And when he is old he will not depart from it".We know we live in a society where things cannot be forced on children and that is why even as we teach them, we don't stop praying for them.

Aside from this, we should not shy away from correcting them. It does more harm than good. Even as little as it can be.

1 Samuel 3:13 records that Eli failed to restrain his children from their bad character. They didn't just grow to be like that, it starts from the little things.

That is why it is important to start correcting them when we notice any abnormal behavior. We should not say they are still little and will learn when they grow.
